CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cavaliers are back on the court tonight as they host the Brooklyn Nets at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, and Kyrie Irving is expected to play against his former team after taking a leave of absence from the Nets. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
If he plays, it would be the first time Irving has played in Cleveland since his official debut with the Boston Celtics on Oct. 17, 2017.
Irving said he was away from the Nets because he “just needed a pause.” He has missed the last seven games overall — five while away from the team and two more while building back his conditioning after he was eligible to return.
Only two Cavs — Kevin Love and Matthew Dellavedova — remain from Irving’s time in Cleveland. Love is sidelined with a calf injury and Dellavedova remains in the league’s concussion protocol.
