YORKVILLE, IL — In the last week, police in Yorkville responded to two separate incidents involving horses on the loose around town. According to Yorkville police, a horse was spotted Saturday on the north side near Galena and Cannonball, after a different horse —described by community members as a Palomino — was seen a few days earlier on the city’s south side. The Yorkville Police Department shared a photo Saturday of a chocolate-colored horse relaxing in a north side field, while adding that the “south side” horse was more of a golden color.
According to police, the golden color “south side” horse is known for using the roadways to wander.
Patch reached out to the police department to see whether both wandering horses are safe and sound with their owners. According to a Facebook comment reply written under the police department’s Saturday post, Blythe Graver said the darker horse was finally caught Monday. Graver added that both horses are feral. Graver said they’re still trying to capture the Palomino horse, and asks anyone who knows the horse’s whereabouts to please let them know.
Authorities ask if this is your horse, or you know the “cowboy or cowgirl” missing the horse, to please contact police at 630-553-4340, and they’d be happy to help you get the horse back home.
