While most people would be upset to learn their lease is being terminated, Wyandotte police say one woman took things too far when she allegedly tried to strike her landlord with her vehicle.
The incident took place in the 1000 block of Garfield.
According to police, a landlord had recently informed his tenant that he would have to terminate her lease agreement and the tenant didn’t take the news well.
On Dec. 19, the landlord was standing in the street, having a conversation with a friend, when the tenant, angry about the lease termination, backed her vehicle in the direction of the landlord.
“According to the witnesses, the woman abruptly accelerated in a clear attempt to strike the landlord with her vehicle,” said Deputy Police Chief Archie Hamilton. “The landlord was forced to jump out of the path of the speeding vehicle to avoid injury. The woman driver then fled the scene.”
But it didn’t end there.
A short time later, the landlord and his friend drove away, making it only a couple blocks away when the woman appeared again. According to police, she sped past their vehicle, throwing a bottle at the windshield and cracking it.
Hamilton said criminal charges are pending.
